" There are many things in life that we fail to understand until long after we begin to ponder them."This memoir of a female-to-male (FTM) transgender individual begins with his adoption as an infant and continues through adulthood. As a young girl, he remembers being a “tomboy ” but feeling like he was a male and not female, going through the dreaded puberty as a girl. He began reading about other transexuals and had an alter ego, Eric, in high school. The book then takes the reader through his numerous relationships and sexual exploits as well as marriages, giving birth to four children, and, eventually, having hormone replacement therapy, a double mastectomy, and finally, bottom surgery with a penis. Also noted throughout the book is his difficult relationship with his mother and being a “tortured soul ” regarding God and church. He also discusses being attuned to paranormal activities. The narrative truly examines the “tortured soul ” that the author experienced throughout his lifetime and the trauma and drama of making his transition into the male person he really is. It gives an in-depth look at the extreme difficulties that one person has experienced in becoming an FTM person, both on the physical and emotional levels. Well-written, the story is mostly conveyed in a fact-based manner without much emotionality, especially regarding the limited information regarding his four children and their experiences. Yet it reveals the struggles, horrors, and problems of one transitioning, especially regarding the issues with his family, God, and church. Buy this book its a definite must read!!!!!!!!!Paranormal Noise is a first- hand account of someone who can speak to ghosts. The story is written in a realistic style and is very believable. Some of the incidents are chilling, some are funny. The author maintained a calm demeanor and didn't let the 'spirits' get the best of him. I was fully engaged in the story. It is compelling and entertaining. I was a little disapointed in the ending though. I had expected more of a wrap-up with words of wisdomin case I ever meet up with a ghost.
